Our experience suggests that you will learn as much in an hour and a half as you do in a 2 hour lesson. Why pay for 2 hour lessons when 1 and a half hour lessons will be sufficient.
Book your theory tests as soon as possible, you don’t want to be paying for driving lessons when you are capable of taking a driving test, just because you delayed your theory.
Why learn off road at the age of 16 when this is more expensive than learning on the road at the age of 17.
Why pay more to learn in a fashionable car? You don’t own it.
Diesel cars are less likely to stall than petrol cars, why take unnecessary lessons struggling with a petrol car.
Does paying more per hour mean better tuition?
There are 3 types of driving instructors
Qualified driving instructors(ADi’s) who must display a Green Badge in their windscreen
Trainee driving instructors (PDI’s) who must display a Pink Badge in their windscreen
Illegal driving instructors display no badges in their windscreen.
Of the two well known national Driving Schools only the AA can categorically state that your tuition will be with an ADi, and very few of the local schools can claim this either.
Before you book lessons ask if your instructor is an ADi, and ask your instructor to show you his Green badge on your first lesson.
With the average price of an hour lesson being £20 -£22, why would you pay more to be taught by a Trainee Driving Instructor (PDi)
Current statistics suggest that between 5% and 10% of PDi’s become ADi’s the rest either begin the process again, leave the industry or teach illegally.
There are growing concerns within our industry about the increase in illegal driving instructors.
ADi’s and PDi’s are CRB checked by the DSA to ensure that we do not pose a threat to pupils.
Adi’s have been tested by the DSA to ensure that they teach to the highest standards.
PDi’s still need to pass this test
Driving instructors need specialist insurance policies to cover tuition, even if illegal driving instructors were able to get this type of insurance policy, which is unlikely, it would be invalid unless they can prove they are a DSA registered ADi or PDi, in the event of a claim.
If your driving instructor cannot show a valid green or pink badge (which has a passport photographs of them on it, an expiry date and an ADi/PDi number) you should not get into the car.
